ROME - City Centre & Centro Storico

The incredible city of Rome, the eternal city and heart of the Roman Empire, incorporates some of the finest architecture and ancient monuments. Rome is built on seven hills, with the Tiber lazily winding its way between the historic centre or Centro Storico and Vatican State, both World Heritage Sites. Several properties have breathtaking views overlooking the city, church domes or even just the fascinating facades and rooftops of surrounding buildings.

Many have chosen to adopt Rome as a second home, a vibrant city offering something for everyone, be it culture, food or just shopping in the fashionable streets of the Centro Storico. The Via Veneto (rione Ludovisi) of  La Dolce Vita fame, Piazza di Spagna (and the Spanish Steps) and Via Condotti’s famous shops (rione Campo Marzio), the picturesque market of Campo dei Fiori (rione Regola), Piazza Navona (rione Parione), with its ‘al fresco’ bars and the characteristic restaurants of Trastevere are amongst the innumerable attractions that make this city a dream place to live in.

Apartments in this very sought after area of Rome can command a significant premium, particularly those with outside space.  The local market is such that properties are turned over very rapidly. We are based in the Centro Storico and have access to a varied portfolio of properties, including several not necessarily advertised publicly.

ROME – Outer City

The city itself actually extends beyond the Centro Storico to within the G.R.A. (Grande Raccordo Anulare or Ring Road), beyond which lies Rome Province.

Between the Centro Storico and the Ring Road lie several residential areas, such as: Appia Antica – Aventino – Balduina – Camilluccia – Cassia – Cortina D’Ampezzo – EUR – Flaminio – Fleming – Monte Mario – Monteverde – Nomentano – Parioli – Pinciano – Salario – S. Giovanni – S. Lorenzo – Trieste – Trionfale – Vigna Clara

ROME - Province

Leaving Rome southwards by the Appia Antica, the famous Roman road, just beyond the old Roman walls is an beautiful residential area, interspersed with various ancient burial sites, including the Catacombs of S.Callisto and the Tomb of Cecilia Metella.
To the southeast, the Castelli Romani is, perhaps, by far the most sought after area. Surrounding the volcanic Lake Albano are Castel Gandolfo, seat of the Pope’s summer residence, Albano and, just a short distance away, Frascati and Grottaferrata.
Due north, amongst others, are the towns of Cerveteri and Tarquinia, with their spectacular Etruscan Necropolises (World Heritage Sites) and that of medieval Bracciano, which dominates Lake Bracciano and the beautiful countryside around.

GETTING THERE:

By air: There are currently two International Airports in Rome and Lazio which are both approximately 40mins. away from the capital. Fiumicino’s Leonardo da Vinci airport, the main one, lies to the west of Rome and is the most convenient for all areas due north. To the south of Rome is Ciampino’s G.B. Pastine airport, which is used by most of the low-cost airlines and private aircraft.

By car: The A1 Motorway runs from north to south linking Rome to Milan in the north and Naples to the south. There are other interesting, picturesque roads, dating back to the Roman period, such as the Appia Antica and the Cassia, the Aurelia and the Flaminia to name a few. As the saying goes, all roads lead to Rome’!
