One of the last remaining privately owned granges
The property is located south of Rome, just over one hours drive from the capital's two international airports and consists of a large main building and a series of smaller buildings. It is surrounded by nearly 40 hectares.
The estate is located in a small, austere but historically rich part of Italy known as 'Ciociaria'. It was probably built around the year 1000 and the first explicit mention of the property dates back to 1122. Several eminent dignitaries including Pope Pius IX have resided at the estate. In 1988 the site was declared a Site of Great Historical Importance.
The structure has a unique layout and consists of four main wings and a number of adjacent smaller buildings, each wing occupies several floors and opens out onto one of the three main internal courtyards. The house and gardens are entirely enclosed by the ancient and at points very high walls. There are also stables, garages, an oil mill and separate wine press.
